Isola del Giglio: Old
Lighthouse in a splendid pine forest, in dominant position among
Giglio Porto, Giglio Castle and Giglio Campese, at 1 hour of
navigation from Argentario. This ancient lighthouse, subject of
recent restructuring is a property unique in its kind, since all
Italian lighthouses are property of the Coast, while this is
converted to private residence. Built around the year 1789, it'
surrounded by a private park of 3,000 sqm of pine forest;
consists of three floors above ground of approx. 260
sqm. each, the ground floor and first floor for housing, attic
floor with average height of 2.70 meters.
intended to local storage and a local winery built entirely by
time in the original bricks in the basement (former deposit
rainwater from the roof and channelled within the ancient walls
to reach the depot). The building is now restored, according to
the directives of Fine Arts for Historic-Artistic heritage. The
entire structure was built to double stone wall with an inner
tube filled with sand. At the rear of the tower stands at an
octagonal base for a height of 24 meters. complete with
electricity and all windows around. Inside was made a spiral
staircase. Upon reaching 21 meters. Opens the local Faro, now
used as a tower of sighting, with 2 access walkway along the
entire outer perimeter rose window, made of granite. The view
spans 360° on Island of Giglio and the whole of the island,
Argentario, Isola delle Formiche and Isola of Monte Cristo. The
complex consists of 27 rooms beautifully finished, distributed
between the ground floor and first floor more than the top floor
and all served by hydraulic lift to move. The property has
luxury finishes and special elegant, features precious
materials, flooring, ceilings sometimes in services with marble,
whirlpool, inlaid decorations and craft shops. Air-conditioning
heat pumps with hot /cold.
The top floor plan and final plan is made to its entry by a
central atrium with a large skylight opening to electric pistons
that allows to admire from below the tower in all its beauty.
